23 Years of Rewarding Journalists for Outstanding Work in the Field
Introduction
Dear Journalists:
Welcome to the 24th Annual Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition. We have made some major changes this year in categories, but as in the past, we are awarding nearly $20,000 to winners.
Here is a quick glance at the 2008 competition and below is a link to get all the details:
New categories: We have added audio and video competition, a category for each. Also we now have a new category for short travel article in print or online media.
Changes in categories: Special Packages/Projects has been expanded to include print, audio, video, online or other digital media, or any combination of platforms. Online Travel Journalism Sites (formerly called Internet Publication/Web Site) has been broadened to encompass varied editorial sites such as web-only, web version of a print medium and blogs.
The basics:
Deadline: Entries must be postmarked by April 4, 2008.
Eligibility period: April 1, 2007, through March 31, 2008, except as noted in specific categories.
Eligibility: Entrants must be North American journalists. Foreign journalists living/working outside North America are not eligible.
Judges: The Missouri School of Journalism again will do the judging â BUT note new address.
Payment: Checks or money orders must be in U.S. funds. We cannot accept payment in any currency but U.S.

Getting materials: This year, we are e-mailing this call for entries and posting all entry information and materials online for your convenience. We are not doing the postal-service mailing as in the past. However, if someone needs to receive printed materials, we can do that by request. Contact us as noted above.
